Visiting ‘22 charities in 22 countries in 22 weeks’ the ‘Real Way Down’ is an expedition through human suffering and kindness. The project will support each of our partner charities (list of partner charities) through the production of promotional videos, as well as through financial donations, and in this way offers both immediate and long term support. The series of films will be broadcast on the ‘Community Channel’, as well as via our multiple media partners, and with other such initiatives, hopes to use innovation and creativity as a powerful tool within development.

Unreal Way Down!!!!

If there was ever a more relevant time for raising ones fist and shouting 'GIRL POWER', it was most definitely on Sunday morning at Hinton Airfield. I didn't consciously plan to organise a female only sky dive, it just somehow turned out that way, and props must go out to the five lovely ladies who risked life, limb, and the potential of being papped in unflattering poses!

It does, I am not afraid to admit, give me a certain sense of power and satisfaction to know that I have the ability to convince 5 unsuspecting females to jump out of a plane for me, however the most important part of the days proceedings, was the money raised for 'Patchwork World', and the 'Real Way Down' project. With less than 5 months to go until our revised departure date of Feb 1st, it was a great boost to our fundraising efforts.

Jess, Laura, Alex, Holly, and George all took to the task of seeking sponsorship with a great deal of enthusiasm and success. I have to say, Jess's confession of going up to each boy in the office and taking up somewhat of a submissive, yet enticing pose, was an act of sheer genius, and I have my suspicions similar tactics were used by the others too.

The weekend didn't go without a hitch, and both Liam, Richard, and my Father were unable to take part on the day due to medical restrictions, connected to shoulders, shouldres, and nasal pulp consecutively. It was a shame, especially considering that all would have been fine, and were simply victims of the health and safety extremes we are used to in this country.

Overall, however, it was a splendid weekend, and both the video, and photos of the event will be available on our blog and website in the next week or so. Thanks once again for everyone who was involved, in particular the 5 girls, who made the weekend such a worthwhile trip. Also thanks to my parents for the hospitality, Ross for driving, Phil for filming, Amal for supporting, Julia and Rich for cheering on, and Steve and Margaret for showing their support too. Not to forget Liam, for providing the through story for the film.... x x
